“This script uses a winning formula, placing its eldritch (or at least Amazonian) horrors in the context of a major historical moment with plenty of atmospheric implications and portent. It’s reminiscent of THE TERROR, on AMC, suggesting cable outlets like that or FX as potential homes; it’s easy to imagine this working for Netflix or AppleTV+ as well… it largely moves like a prestige drama, holding back reveals in service of tension and forcing the audience to be patient while it slowly rolls things out. But it has a lot to keep the viewer engaged even before it begins telling its secrets, and it will likely appeal to executives looking for their next prestige horror/fantasy series.”
AUSTIN FILM FESTIVAL
“Tales from the Mountains is a wonderful script that combines subtle worldbuilding with engaging characters and a solid mystery. The concept and the world of the story are real stars here. The script combines supernatural and historical elements to create an utterly original sandbox for stories. The concept takes from history but spins it with supernatural elements like the visions to make a truly unique series with much potential.”

“With strong characters, this crime/thriller has compelling relationships. The script has some striking visuals, such as Bobby driving the Mustang fast along the beautiful, open Wyoming landscape or when Bobby sets the cars on fire at the gas station parking lot. The story also has gripping suspense in places that create an effective sense of danger.”
